Extraordinary experience at the seniors' centre

The seventh month of our 2007 year. St. Swithin's could be our centre patron saint. His day is Sunday, July 15. He said; "There is no art in doing extraordinary things, but in doing ordinary things extraordinarily well."

We do! Every day at the centre is an extraordinary day for you and all. Every day of our friendly members in-house games was an "extraordinary" winners' day. Join us at the centre and be a "winner" too. Our 2007 games fielded 19 game events the most in our fourth year of friendly in-house competitions. Game awards and plaque presentations were held June 28 at a gala games luncheon.

Saturday, June 2, A special birthday wish and many more to Irene Stephanson, our annual Caledon Character producer celebrating 80 years of fun and frolic. Ray, Irene's top performer, family, friends and Caledon Senior characters joined in the centre celebration demanding continued years of encore.

Saturday, June 9 was a community day at Potts Park and our Caledon Seniors' Centre booth was front row centre. A grand day to meet our Caledon neighbours, members of council and the many volunteer organizations that make Bolton and Caledon extraordinary. Oh, to be a kid again!

Comments, suggestions, tips all welcome on our vision and preliminary expansion proposals.

Our directors, planning committee members, Bob Smith, Beverley Nurden and centre staff welcome your improvement suggestions. To save your time and ours submit your suggestion(s) in writing. A record will be kept and your suggestion duly recognized. Architectural sketches and explanations are on view for your consideration. Your input is vital to our long range planning development and decisions. Now is the time not later! Be a Caledon active seniors' centre improvement booster!

Wednesday, July 4, noon birthday & anniversary lunch. 1 p.m. bingo & Club Italiano every Wednesday.

Thursday, July 5, 1:30 p.m. Poker for fun! every Thursday. 7 p.m. shuffleboard. Bring a friend and make a team.

Friday, July 6, games day, 9:30 a.m. your choice. Bridge & bid euchre instruction. Noon lunch. 7 p.m. bridge & euchre every Friday.

Thursday, July 12, PROBUS, 9:30 a.m. meet & greet, 10 a.m. start. Guest speaker with an informative topic of interest. Memberships $30/year available anytime. Guests of members welcome.

Thursday, July 19, trip to St. Jacob's. Bus leaves centre 9:15 a.m. Shop in town or local market. $26/person.

Tuesday, July 24, 5 p.m. monthly dinner is a steak and beach party. Harmony Show Band.

Wednesday, July 25, noon, pot-luck luncheon. The pot says "feed me or pay me!"

Thursday, Aug. 23, Buddy Holly Story at Kings Wharf Theatre, Penetanguishene. Bus leaves the centre at 10 a.m. Buffet lunch & show. $74/person. Return 6 p.m.

Sept. 20, boat cruise, delicious lunch and spectacular show "Stage Door Canteen" at the Orillia Opera House. Transportation, cruise and lunch, $74/person.
