Cheltenham Day Saturday

The annual village extravaganza, Cheltenham Day, arrives Saturday, July 7.

The day kicks off with a street and crafters sale, running 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Youngsters can try out The Flipside skateboard park 9-3 as well. The community parade runs through the village at 9:30 a.m. and a special tree dedication takes place at 10. Children's games and activities run 10:15 to 12:30 p.m. A tricycle races takes place at noon.

The famous Soap Box Derby will run 11 a.m. to 12:30 with the final races taking place 1:15-1:45.

Other events on tap include a dunk tank from noon to 2:30; a pie-eating contest at 12:45 and a tube race on the Credit River at 2 p.m.

An awards ceremony will take place at 2:45.

To cap off the day, the BBQ chicken dinner will be held at the Cheltenham fire hall at 6 p.m. Tickets are $17 for adults, $7 for children. You can purchase tickets at the Cheltenham Country Store.

A silent auction runs 6-9 p.m. and then you can dance the night away from 8 p.m. until midnight with Jack B Nimble.
