Early 410 opening supported

The early opening of the Highway 410 extension to Mayfield Road was supported by Caledon council recently subject to the awarding of a contract for Phase 3 construction between Mayfield Road and Highway 10.

Town staff was directed to participate in an intermunicipal committee to develop and implement a traffic management plan to ensure smooth traffic operation and mitigate possible adverse impacts resulting from the early opening.

The Ministry of Transportation Ontario, Peel region and City of Brampton want the extension opened by Aug. 31.

Mayor Marolyn Morrison pointed out the extension will be opened into a construction zone on Mayfield Road."The forces that be really want it opened," she said.
