Tree of Life Centre celebrates first anniversary

Caroline's Creative Arts Studio Gallery in Belfountain is pleased to announce the first anniversary of The Tree of Life Centre for Creativity.

The centre is a self-contained teaching studio, recently built on the premises of 716 Bush St., in the quaint village of Belfountain. It encompasses Caroline's Creative Arts Studio Gallery and includes expansion into the new teaching centre annex.

Caroline Butson is an artist with a strong portfolio of talents. She is a painter, designer, singer and drummer. Twenty-five years ago she set out on a journey of self-development. At the time she had been diagnosed with a form of autism after graduating from McGill University with a BA in 1979. Her artistic gifts were developed through applying herself to the disciplines of painting, singing, dance and drumming. With these tools she eventually overcame many obstacles including speech. Her gift of painting is her passion, blending elements of abstract and colour, movement and form in a unique style that expresses her true spiritual nature.

Butson has been sharing her knowledge of the arts, teaching expressive arts to children in the schools and holding adult classes in her art studio since 1988. Last year a long time dream unfolded for her, a dream of building a self-contained teaching studio where she can hold workshops for small groups on her premises. This is The Tree of Life Centre for Creativity.

The centre's purpose is to increase awareness of the healing power of the expressive arts, a role both educational and healing in nature. Both children and adults come to explore and nurture their artistic abilities in a range of fun educational experiences.

It has been a wonderful year for The Tree of Life Centre and the public is invited to the first anniversary celebration Sunday, June 24 starting at 2 p.m.
