Summer art camp returns at Peel Heritage Complex

Would your child like to learn the secrets of the great masters of art or be an explorer and uncover long lost artifacts? If you're looking for something exciting for your child to do this summer, look no further than the Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) for Summer Art Camp.

To July 27, children ages six to 12 can join professional artists as they lead campers through fine art, drama and museum programs. There's a new, thought-provoking theme each week.

Week 1 - July 3 to 6 - A Night at the Museum. Learn painting techniques and sculpture, while creating life-size dinosaur bones, Egyptian relief tiles, beadwork, miniature dioramas, giant bugs and fossils.

Week 2 - July 9 to 13 - Triple Threat. Participate in acting, singing, dancing, set designing and costume-making, all culminating in a final production.

Week 3 - July 16 to 20 - Meet the Masters. Learn impressionist and abstract painting, pop art sculpture and mixed media, all inspired by history's great artists.

Week 4 - July 23 to 27 - Jet Lag. Explore art forms from various cultures by learning mask making, translucent collage making, block printing, coil pot making and sculpture.

Summer Art Camp runs daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a cost of $120 for the week of July 3 to 6, and $150 per week for the following weeks. There is a 10% discount for PHC members.

To register or for more information on Summer Art Camp and other PHC programs and exhibitions, visit peelheritagecomplex.org or call 905-791-4055.
