Garden Foods rezoning passed

A rezoning application by Garden Foods in Bolton to expand its grocery store was recently approved by Caledon council.

Garden Foods owns two abutting lots at 501 and 511 Queen St. S. The lot at 501 Queen St. S. includes a 18,811-square-foot grocery store with accessory offices. The lot at 511 Queen St. S. was the former site of the Kentucky Fried Chicken. The building there will be demolished.

Garden Foods proposed to rezone both lots to permit a 6,124-square-foot expansion to the existing grocery store. The two lots will be merged on title to become one lot.

Town planners commented the rezoning to permit the expansion conforms to the Caledon Official Plan.
