Humberview's best athletes were recognized

Among the athletes honoured at the annual Humberview Husky Howl were (front row, l to r) Zarik Furmanov, Senior Male Athlete of the Year; Sandra Hamilton, Senior Female Athlete of the Year; Laura Mills, Outstanding Contribution to Athletics Award; (back row) Trish Shurrie, Junior Female Athlete of the Year; Garrett Morandi, Junior Male Athlete of the Year.
The best athletes at The Humberview in Bolton were praised at the school's annual Husky Howl athletic banquet last Tuesday.

Senior Female

Athlete of the Year

Sandra Hamilton took top honours as Senior Female Athlete of the Year. She was most valuable player in senior girls volleyball and track and field. She was most improved player in field hockey. She also received the Humberview Athletic Council President's Scroll.

Senior Male

Athlete of the Year

Zarik Furmanov was selected as Senior Male Athlete of the Year. He was most valuable player in senior boys cross-country running and wrestling.

Junior Female

Athlete of the Year

Trish Shurrie was named Junior Female Athlete of the Year. She was most valuable player in junior girls basketball and tennis.

Junior Male

Athlete of the Year

Garrett Morandi was chosen as Junior Male Athlete of the Year. He was most valuable player in junior boys nordic skiing.

Outstanding

Contribution

to Athletics Award

Laura Mills was presented the Outstanding Contribution to Athletics Award. She was most valuable player in senior badminton and wrestling. She was most improved player in table tennis and wrestling.

Academic and Athletic

Excellence Award

The Academic and Athletic Excellence Award is given to the male and female Grade 12 students with the highest academic standing. This year's recipients were Mike Babyn (94 per cent) and Melanie Markovic (96 per cent).

Citizenship Award

John Davidson received the Sheila Tutty Citizenship Award

Jane Kirkpatrick

Sportsmanship Award

Jenna Franklin was given the Jane Kirkpatrick Sportsmanship Award. She was most valuable player in table tennis.
