Peel board invests more than $500 million in schools, additions Gym class will never be the same for students from the 30 Peel District School Board schools that have been approved to receive a new gymnasium beginning this year. The reconstruction of school gyms is part of a half-billion-dollar investment the Peel board is making to build news schools and update existing ones. "One of the goals of the Peel board is to ensure that students and staff have safe and appropriate places to learn and work," said Janet McDougald, board chair. "We understand the correlation between an upto date and fully equipped facility and student success. This is why we continue to look for ways to ensure our school buildings are dynamic learning environments." James Bolton Public School is the only Caledon school slated to receive a new gymnasium. "These renovations are just a part of the long list of construction projects we will start over the next few years," said Randy Wright, controller of planning and accommodation support services with the Peel board. "In fact, the Peel board has the largest volume of construction projects for any organization in the GTA. This is great news for our schools, but also for the architects and contractors who realize our vision." Other renovations include the addition of new classrooms, special education facilities, new library facilities, and modernized science and computer labs. |
