Caledon Community Work Plan approved by council

Tuesday, June 5, the members of council unanimously adopted the new Caledon Community Work Plan for the 2006- 2010 term of council.

Upon the election of the 2006-2010 council the CAO was given direction to implement the process by which to establish a Caledon Community Work Plan (CCWP) for this term of Council. A project coordinator was appointed, council held brainstorming sessions, a list of actionable items was created, refined and organized, and a public open house was held.

"The Caledon Community Work Plan plays a significant role in determining the policies and procedures for the municipality, and is one of the inputs for planning the municipality's annual capital and operating budgets," said Mayor Marolyn Morrison.

A total of 69 individual objectives have been proposed for the CCWP. These action items or objectives are classified according to one of 12 themes: Environment, Economic Development, Governance, Growth Management, Intergovernmental Relations, Land Use Planning, Parks, Recreation, Roads, Settlement Areas, Town-wide Beautification, and Trails.

Each councillor chose assignments as champions for the completion of each CCWP objective; departmental responsibility was determined and a leadership team was assembled. The CAO will report to council on an annual basis on the attainment of the CCWP objectives. After two years the work plan will be reviewed to determine if refinements are required.
