Caledon Kids Fun Fair, Ribfest is this weekend The Caledon Kids Fun Fair and Awesome Ribfest Challenge will be held at the Caledon Fairgrounds June l5, 16, 17. The fair entertainment will include Agility K-9 dog shows several times each day; circus clowns performing and entertaining; a daily 2 p.m. parade that all are asked to join; a free craft area for little kids, Supershows family rides and prize-every-time games. In addition, the famous Bowmanville Zoo is presenting an enormous petting zoo, elephant rides and an exotic animal show that will appeal to families of all ages. The whole entertainment package will bring joy and fun to all who come to the fair. Sunday, June 17 there will be a Classic, Custom and Antique Car Show. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and is $5. There is a raffle for the entered drivers only with a first prize of a $400 tire voucher, and many other prizes. The prizes and trophies will be awarded at 1 p.m. Also on the grounds will be a hole-in-one golf challenge with super prizes for a hole in one and closest to the hole. Saturday evening there will be a dance under the pavilion and Saturday there will be crafts in the hall for sale. Sunday the Caledon Baseball Association will hold a father/son/daughter baseball game at the diamond. The Canadian Ribfest Challenge with ribbers from far and wide will be held Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17. Judging will take place Saturday at noon with results kept a secret until Sunday. Judges include Mayor Marolyn Morrison, Councillor Doug Beffort, Leanne Waterman, Caledon Citizen Editor Mark Pavilons and Ed Taccone, president of the Caledon Agricultural Society. The BBQ ribs, chicken and pork highlight all the great fun foods at the fair. The ribbers will complete their Ontario tour this summer at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. The Caledon Fairgrounds are located on Highway 10, immediately south of Highway 24. Free parking is available. The fair opens Friday at 3 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. Supershows rides are priced at 1 or 2 coupons. All-day ride bracelets are priced at a special price of $15. On Father's Day (June 17), all fathers accompanied by a child, will ride free. Admission to the fair is $7.50 for adults; $5 for children under 12. All paid admissions will receive a free hot dog coupon every day of the fair. The Salvation Army will hold a non-perishable food drive at the Kids Fun Fair. To earn free admission to the fair just bring a donation of two food items for kids, 3 food items for adults. The donations will help the needy in the Caledon, Brampton area.
