Inglewood Day this Saturday The stage is set this Saturday for the annual Inglewood Day festivities. The day will start with a pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m., followed by a BBQ all afternoon. A refreshment tent will be available from noon and live entertainment will be provided by local band Shift. Carriage rides around town will run from noon to 3 p.m., provided by Tara Oaks of Inglewood. A penny raffle and silent auction start at 10 a.m. and the famous Buck a Duck race on the river takes place at 2 p.m. The ducks will be sold at the Inglewood General Store. For the talented, a Lip Sync contest runs at 2:30 p.m. In addition, kids games and competitions, including a watermelon eating contest, will be taking place throughout the day. The Town of Caledon is also joining the day of celebration with the opening of a new pedestrian bridge over Highway 10, and will be hosting a variety of trail games, and giveaways as well. This day is being promoted as a "green" event and anyone coming to the pancake breakfast is encouraged to "bring their own" cutlery to win a prize (donated by the Town of Caledon). All cups, plates and napkins used throughout the day will be either biodegradable or recyclable and the Town will be providing appropriate containers for all. Sponsors for the day include Inglewood Electric, Landworks Landscaping, Trailcon Leasing Inc., HelpUnlimited, Robert Management Consulting, RNC Designs, and Canada Bread. Donators to the raffle table and silent auction include Caledon Golf Club, Body Perks of Inglewood, Caledon East Florist, Greenhawk Equestrian Supply, the Village Bistro, and many other local businesses and even residents. The day winds up at 4 p.m. This annual event is put on by the Village of Inglewood Association (VIA), a local non-profit group of residents who plan events and continually liaise with the Town of Caledon. |
