Impaired charges on the rise

Caledon OPP officers responded to 17 property damage and two personal injury collisions during the week of May 22-27.

High Miler

of the Week

Monday, May 21, at roughly 6:48 a.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed on Regional Road 50 near Parr Boulevard in Caledon. Austen Katryan, 62, of Brampton, was charged with Speeding-112 km-h in a 60-km-h posted zone. Court date for the 52- kilometre-over charge is set for June 21.

Alcohol & Driving

Saturday, May 26, a traffic stop on Forks of the Credit Road near McLaren Road in Caledon, resulted in a criminal charge for the driver. Michael Schaede, 45, of Caledon was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Court date has been set for June 28.

Sunday, May 27, Caledon OPP and emergency services personnel responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 9, east of Regional Road 50 at about 11 p.m. The collision involved a car driven by a lone male, which crossed over the centre line and collided with a van containing three adults and four children. All occupants in the van received non-life threatening injuries and were transported to hospital. The driver of the car, 53-year-old Abdulrazzaq Mubarak of Thornhill, wasn't injured and was charged with Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm. Mubarek was given a court date of July 12.

Sunday, May 27, a vehicle stop for traffic enforcement resulted in charges for the driver. Duncan Carroll, 27, of Tottenham, was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. He will appear in court June 28.

Break & Enter

Monday, May 21, an air compressor was stolen from the garage of a De Rose Avenue home sometime overnight.

Tuesday, May 22, a business located on Maple Avenue in Inglewood was entered during the night hours. Metal siding on the building was pried open to gain entry. Once inside, two fire extinguishers were taken and discharged.

Tuesday, May 22, a school on Shaw's Creek Road was entered during the night hours. Windows had been smashed to allow access to the building. A safe containing cash was stolen from the school.

Tuesday, May 22, sometime over the weekend, an insecure window of a Landsbridge Drive school in Bolton was opened. A camera that was left near the window was stolen.

Saturday, May 26, a portable at a high school in Bolton was entered during the evening hours. Awindow of a door had been smashed. A VCR was stolen from the portable.

Sunday, May 27, a garage of a Hesp Drive residence was entered during the night hours and a set of golf clubs were stolen.

Mischief

Tuesday, May 22, a gas station located on Mayfield Road reports that one of its pumps had been damaged during the night hours.

Tuesday, May 22, sometime over the weekend, culprit( s) attempted to enter the mortuary of a cemetery on Boston Mills Road. Damages were caused to the doorway but entry was not made.

Sunday, May 27, a window of a vehicle was smashed while left parked at a lot on Regional Road 50 in Bolton during the daytime hours.

Theft

Monday, May 21, a business owner on Hardwick Drive has reported a theft of tires and old rims from the yard of the business.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon OPP officers responded to 16 domestic disputes between May 21- 25. Charges were laid May 21, 22 and 24 in Bolton; May 23 in Caledon.

Caledon OPP officers responded to 10 domestic disputes between May 14 and 19. Charges were laid in Bolton May 16 and 18 and Caledon May 19.
