Chalmers earns gold at nationals of MusicFest 2007

Matthew Chalmers enjoyed success at the national finals of MusicFest Canada.
Matthew Chalmers from Palgrave public school competed at the national finals of MusicFest Canada in Richmond B.C. with his Jazz Combo from the Humber College Community Music School. His group was awarded a gold standing. He also played drums for Mkosa, Humberview's Vocal Jazz Ensemble which also received a gold standing.

At the closing ceremonies May 19, Matthew was awarded an Outstanding Musician Award and received a full tuition scholarship to the Kincardine Jazz Camp.

MusicFest Canada brings together 8,000 of the countries finest musicians for five days of competition, clinics, workshops and concerts. This is the fourth year in a row that Matthew has been the youngest musician at MusicFest to be recognized with a major award at the closing ceremonies.
