Truck hits hydro pole

Thursday, May 24, at roughly 2:10 p.m. Caledon OPP and Emergency Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on King Street just west of Humber Station Road.

An eastbound truck ran off the road into the south side ditch striking a hydro pole, which caused the pole to snap and the hydro wires to come down.

The driver, a 22-year-old male from Nobleton, was not injured in the collision.

The truck was transporting approximately 400 empty propane cylinders and seven cylinders that contained propane. Hydro crews were dispatched to disconnect power from the hydro lines allowing Caledon Fire Services personnel to access for possible propane leaks. Two businesses on the southwest corner of King Street and Humber Station Road were evacuated for precautionary measures.

Portions of King Street and Humber Station Road were closed for several hours.
