Rotary Wines of the World draws business support For anyone with an interest in wines, or wants to know more, the place to be is the Caledon Equestrian Centre Friday, June 8 at 6 p.m. Palgrave Rotary's 10th annual Wines of the World is shaping up to be the best yet, thanks to strong support from the local and business communities. Among the businesses that have signed on to ensure the success of the event are Ashton Ridge Homes (Legacy Pines) and Cavalier Transportation as tent sponsors, with Bolton Toyota, McGillion Transportation and the Caledon Equestrian Centre as associate sponsors. As well some 17 businesses are participating in the event as wine sponsors. Steve Thurlow, senior editor of Wine Access magazine, Canada's leading wine journal, and a member of the executive group that organizes Sante, Toronto's annual international wine festival, has again agreed to be the wine consultant for the selections available at Wines of the World. Thurlow is a resident of Caledon and a passionate wine enthusiast. His skills are sure to make the evening a noteworthy event. Thurlow's choices include more than 30 wines from 11 countries. "The wines available for sampling this year offer exceptional value and are available through LCBO stores at about $12 on average," said Thurlow. "We will be offering some choices from many wine producing areas including some less familiar ones like South Africa, Argentina, southern Italy and Spain." Thurlow's picks for Wines of the World will help the guess work out of choosing from the more than 1,600 wines offered by the LCBO by providing visitors with an opportunity to sample wines they may not be familiar with. In addition, several wine agencies that have supported this fund-raiser will be represented with their selection of more that 20 wines. For $35 per person, attendees can enjoy, in addition to the wine experience, a selection of hors d'oeuvres, assorted cheeses and Palgrave Rotary's delectable barbecue hips of beef. Tickets for Wines of the World must be purchased in advance and are available from Migrations Travel, Palgrave; Forster's Book Garden, Bolton, Palgrave Café and Bake Shoppe, Humber Valley Winery, Bolton; The Naked Vine, Bolton; or by calling 905- 880-1590, 905-951-7253 or 519-942-8894 or from any member of the Rotary Club of Palgrave. |
