Attend cell tower meeting

Wildfield residents opposed to a cell tower in their community should attend a drop-in-style meeting at the Albion Bolton Community Centre, Room C, Wednesday, May 30 anytime from 4-9 p.m.

Bell Mobility is sponsoring the meeting to obtain public input on its application to the Town of Caledon to erect an approximately 100-foot tower at 12061 the Gore Road, just north of the landmark St. Patrick's Church.

If erected, this tower will dominate the landscape, erode the heritage value of the church, diminish property values - making it harder to sell houses as no wants to live near a cell tower - and fatally undermine the efforts of residents are valiantly trying to preserve Wildfield's status as one of Peel Region's few remaining historic hamlets.

Residents can express their objections on comment cards that will be available. Those cards will be assessed by the Town of Caledon as part of its overall review of the project.

The No Cell Towers in Wildfield group will also be hosting its own drop-in meeting directly across the hall in Room F at the same time. As cell towers are popping up all over Caledon, the group is hoping other area residents will attend.
