Fishing weekend proclaimed
      Friday, July 6 through Sunday, July 8 was recently proclaimed Family Fishing Weekend in Caledon by Caledon council. The province, in partnership with many nongovernment organizations like the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, declares one summer weekend a licence-free fishing weekend.

Jordan Kominski sizzles in opener
      Vaughan Bandits Lacrosse opened with Jordan Kaminski getting 4 goals along with 3 from Renato Censoni to lead their squad to a 20-3 win in novice house league action. In the peewee loop, Steven Peressini scored the lone goal to lead the Roughnecks over the Wings in a hard-fought game.

Husky of the Week
      Rebecca Wardlaw is the Humberview Husky athlete of the week. Rebecca, 14, is on the school badminton and volleyball teams. The grade 9 student also coaches the junior boys' Caledon Cougars squad.

Players needed for ladies soccer league
      The Caledon Soccer Clubs' recreational ladies league is still looking for players ages 21 and over to play this summer. The ladies play in Caledon East on Wednesday nights at 9:15 p.m. starting in early June. The league has games scheduled through to September.
