Alton Mill topic of society talk

The Caledon East and District Historical Society will present Jeremy Grant, vice-president planning and development for the initiative to convert the Alton Mill into an arts/heritage centre. The historic Alton Mill will be the subject of his talk Wednesday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Caledon East.

Located adjacent to Shaw's Creek, a tributary of the Credit River, the Alton Mill was established in 1881 as the Beaver Knitting Mill. It was originally a woolen mill renowned across Canada for its production of fleece-lined long underwear and in 1935 it was converted to a rubber product manufacturing plant.

The mill is today being converted into an arts/heritage centre with art studios, galleries, specialty retail and event uses. Everyone is welcome to attend the talk.
