Mayor's Report
Many of Caledon's parks can be rented for events such as reunions, picnics, tournaments, photos and weddings. The Town also has a show trailer, a portable stage that is available for rental. Park permits are required for organized use and events with 20 people or more. Often, residents will use our parks as their backdrop for wedding photos; even though it is not required to rent the park for this use, it is still a good idea. When you rent the park, you can ensure that there are no other conflicting bookings, the grass is cut and the park area is tidied for your use. Alcohol cannot be consumed, served or sold without a special occasions permit (obtained at any LCBO) and a beer garden set up (a controlled access area). For more information on our parks, visit our Web site at www.caledon.ca or contact our parks service facilitator at 905-584-2272 ext. 4248. It is also important to note that parks and animal control bylaws require you to stoop and scoop after your pet and to keep dogs on a leash while enjoying public property. Open fires and charcoal barbecues are not allowed in any park. Motorized vehicles, golf and archery are also prohibited. Residents are encouraged to contact the public works department at 905-584-2272 about vandalism, damaged equipment or any other concerns regarding our parks. Should you observe vandalism or inappropriate behaviour in progress, please contact the OPP. Outdoor organized sports are currently under way throughout the Town. Stop by your local park to watch bocce, baseball, rugby, soccer or tennis. Parks are open for use between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Out of respect for park neighbours, use is not permitted after 11 p.m. Caledon is also home to two splash pads (Potts Park and Adam Wallace Park - both in Bolton). June 1 the water will be turned on for the enjoyment of your children. Residents are also welcome to attend the Caledon Trailway Bridge ceremony Saturday, June 16 at 10 a.m. This wonderful pedestrian bridge provides a safe passage over the fivelane Highway 10 connecting the well-used trail. Parking will be available at the Ken Whillans Resource Management Area on the west side of Highway 10, just north of the bridge. Afterwards, there will be Trailway activities and cake. You are all invited to Inglewood Day, where there will be a pancake breakfast until 11 a.m., a duck race in the Credit River, family games and activities, along with a BBQ and beer garden. Members of council and I look forward to seeing you there. |
