Bolton Brownies recall fun times in their own words
The pack recalled their most favorite experiences, during a presentation last week by Citizen Editor Mark Pavilons, who asked them to tell their own stories. "At the Science Centre I had so much fun," according to Emily. "The I-Max Theatre was really big. It looks white but it's really transparent! I had the time of my life! I was sad to leave, but my sister really LOVED her present I got her." Megan, too, can't wait to go back. "We stayed up until 12:00 and woke up at 6:00. There was a little toy store that you could play in." Madi said they had so much fun "that almost everyone never missed their parents. The worst part was we woke up at 6:45. We got used to the early morning and went to eat pancakes and sausages." Jade said they got to play for a long time. Their teacher read them a book. "But we had to wake up at 6:00 in the morning. We were all very tired." Catherine enjoyed staying up late and watching a movie. "In the morning we had Cheerios, pancakes, sausages and juice. I had so much fun and I would love to visit it again." Julianna picked the Science Centre trip as her favorite "because it was the funnest place I went to so far!" For Courtney, the trip was "really fun with my best friend Sydney. I had fun watching the movie, when we played and when we ate our breakfast. Then we went home." Lexie had so much fun because they had pizza for dinner and "watched bugs in a huge theatre. Then we went to see a show that someone put on for us. It was about getting a bottle of Pepsi and putting Mentos in it and it went everywhere because it exploded. After that we went to bed. I did not have fun, because it wasn't that comfortable. When I got home I admired my bed because that was comfy." Taylor wasn't a big fan of getting up early. "In the morning I heard 'wake up Sparks, Brownies and Scouts' and then I woke up immediately." Daniella said the theatre's dome was the movie screen. "We got up and went to the cafeteria for breakfast and went back to the room we slept in. We packed up and left. That's the reason I enjoyed it." According to Alison, at the Science Centre "we learned some new things. We got to make slime and watch a movie about bugs, it was very interesting. We saw a magic trick but it wasn't really magic it was just science. At the end of the trick we got to see how it was done. In the morning we went to the gift shop. I bought a cool rock. Finally we went home to Bolton from Toronto." Amanda said she liked making slime and watching the experiments. "We played in the Play Place. There is a supermart and a house. The reason I went to the Science Centre was to learn about science and have fun. We saw a science guy and he made Mentos explode in a Pepsi bottle. We read a story and went to bed." Some of the Brownies enjoyed other activities and visits. Carissa enjoyed the presentation of a science guy who came to their meeting place at Bolton United Church. "I chose this because this is my favorite thing I did at Brownies. We learned about good bacteria and bad bacteria." This was Vanessa's best day, too. "The activity was finding bacteria in our house. We did it because we wanted to see how much our mothers or fathers clean." Sydney's favorite thing was making the quilt. "My mom helped out. It's going in the new building. We made it a few weeks ago. We made it because it was a fun craft we made together." Victoria enjoys every aspect of Brownies "because I knew that it was going to be fun and it is fun." Savanna enjoyed the trip to the Animal Shelter, where they saw cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits and "where they sleep and play. They are brought there because people don't want them anymore or they live on the street. It was fun because we got an activity book to color later." Natalie loves Brownies. "We go to fun sleepovers and camping and doing a whole bunch of activities and lots more. We do fun crafts like the big quilt everybody made. I got 13 badges. I like Brownies because we went tubing." Jayd said the two best things are the Easter Egg Hunt and selling cookies from door to door. "I also liked the Halloween party. Selling cookies is when we go door to door. Sometimes they're mint, sometimes they're like Oreos. They're 4 bucks a box. The most frightening part of Brownies was when the police came and showed us a computer movie. My mom is a leader. It makes me feel very special." Julia said "the best thing was snow tubing. It was so much fun! You should try it. Brownies is so much fun you should sign up your kids. They help the neighborhood. We do arts and crafts, we play games and we got to bring home a doll named Angel. At Halloween we have a party. I hope you enjoyed my article!" Emma's favorite thing is selling cookies. "I am going to tell you about how I sold cookies and how much I sold. The way I sell cookies is that first I get the cookies and place to keep the money. Second, I go to my neighbor's house and try to sell them cookies. Then I go to the next house and all around the block.Tip: when selling cookies always have change. Well, I sold 12 boxes." |
