Caledon Hawks atom AE wins final tournament

The Caledon atom AE Hawks wrapped up their season with a tourney win.
The Caledon Hawks atom AE team ended the 2006/2007 season the same way they started, with a tournament win.

The team travelled to East Gwillimbury for the last weekend of the season and took home the hardware in convincing fashion.

In the first game the Hawks faced the Newmarket Redmen. Both teams had numerous chances in the first period and just as it looked like the period would end in a tie, the Hawks scored with two seconds left to take the lead.

Will Pidduck scored the goal from Jonathan Lollino. The second period was a mirror image of the first with a few scoring chances for each team but the Hawks finally capitalizing with just under 30 seconds left. Goal scorer was Braeden Bayes from Michael Marinaccio. The third period was all Hawks as they scored three more unanswered goals to win the game 5-0. The final three goals were scored by Michael Marinaccio, Jacob Skrinar and Jonathan Lollino. Helpers went to Jacob Skrinar, Braeden Bayes, Jonathan Lollino and Michael Bozzelli. The shutout went to Eric Pitcher. Nicholas Fischer sat on the sidelines with a cast on his arm.

The Hawks next faced the OMHA champion Barrie Colts. The game was a tightchecking affair with both teams seeing a number of scoring chances. The Hawks were first on the board halfway into the first. Goal scorer was Jacob Skrinar from Braeden Bayes and Bradley Keough.

The reverse was the case in the second period as the Colts scored the tying goal in the middle of the second. The third period saw chances from both teams to put the game away but unfortunately for the Hawks, the Colts were the only team to score. The game ended in a 2-1 loss.

In the third game the Hawks faced the home favourite East Gwillimbury Eagles. The Hawks needed a victory to be assured a place in the finals.

The Hawks flew out of the nest on a mission. After scoring just minutes into the game, the team never looked back and scored four more unanswered goals to take a 5-0 victory. The Skrinar, Marinaccio, Bayes line was on fire, scoring all five goals. Goals went to Jacob Skrinar with a hat trick, Braeden Bayes and Michael Marinaccio each with one. Assists went to Michael Marinaccio (3), Braeden Bayes (2) and Bradley Keough. The Hawks were on to the finals to once again face the tough Barrie Colts.

The Hawks stepped onto the ice after a major delay. Despite the wait, the Hawks were not to be denied this game as they came out hard in all aspects of the game. A full team effort was the order of the game. Just minutes in, the Hawks were on the board. By the end of the first they had a 3-0 lead. The Hawks scored two more in the second and one more in the third. The Colts managed just two goals against the determined Hawks. The Hawks went on to win the tournament with the 5-2 win.

Goal scorers were Jonathan Lollino (2), Michael Andrews (2), Michael Marinaccio and Will Pidduck. Helpers went to Michael Bozzelli (2), Zachary Gouveia, Jacob Skrinar, Braeden Bayes, Joseph Lapiccirella, Braeden Glendinning, Nicholas Mansueto, Bradley Keough and Dalton Lisso. Way to go Hawks! Great way to send the season!

Coaching and management staff includes Scott Andrews, Alfie Jelesits, Matt Lapiccirella, David Pidduck and James Bayes.
