Hydro One upgrades in area

Hydro One crews from its Orangeville work centre will replace 207 poles this year in Erin Township, East Luther Township and the Town of North Wellington at a cost of roughly $600,000 to upgrade power distribution reliability.

The poles to be replaced were identified during line inspections last year. All power lines, poles and related equipment owned and operated by Hydro One are inspected periodically to identify any potential problems so that they can be corrected without causing a power interruption. Repairs have already been made to deteriorated wooden crossarms and insulators found during the inspection.

This year Hydro One crews will be patrolling major feeder lines in the Grand Valley and Arthur areas as well as Amaranth and Mono townships and the Town of Caledon. The work is expected to be completed by mid-October.

"This critical maintenance work will significantly upgrade overall reliability in the area," said Hydro One Orangeville customer operations manager Terry Bateman. "It's a reflection of Hydro One's commitment to investing in its power delivery system and providing a high level of service to customers."
