OPP Report Caledon OPP Officers responded to 13 property damage and four personal injury collisions during the week of April 9-15. High Miler of the Week Monday, April 9 at about 3 p.m., Caledon OPP officer Rosa observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed on Airport Road near Charleston Sideroad in Caledon. Radoslaw Karlinski, 22, of Brampton, was charged with Speeding-152 km/h in an 80- km/h posted zone. Court date for the 72-kilometre over charge is set for May 17. Spring Seat Belt Campaign The provincial Seat Belt Campaign has begun. The provincial initiative runs through April 30. The annual campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of wearing seat belts as well as proper use of child restraints in vehicles. The legislation, passed December of 2006, "One Person, One Seat Belt" requires every occupant in a motor vehicle to be buckled up properly while occupying a seat where a seat belt is available. All drivers and passengers 16 years of age and older are responsible for ensuring they are properly belted in a motor vehicle. Drivers are responsible to ensure all passengers under the age of 16 travelling in their motor vehicle are properly restrained either by a seat belt or child car seat according to Highway Traffic Act specifications. The penalty for failing to do so, is a set fine of $85 plus surcharge fees totalling $110. Two demerit points are set against your licence upon conviction of this charge. Alcohol & Driving Saturday, April 14, a RIDE spot check at King Street and Caledon-King Townline resulted in an arrest of the driver. Christopher MacNeil, 51, of Richmond Hill, was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. He will appear in court May 24. Saturday, April 14, a call from another motorist led to a vehicle stop on Regional Road 50 near Centennial Drive. James Russell, 49, of Everett was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and two charges under the Liquor Licence Act. He will appear in court May 17. Saturday, April 14, a RIDE spot check at Queen Street and Main Street in Alton resulted in an arrest of the driver, 38-year-old Karen McAlpine-Stubbs of Orangeville. She will appear in court May 17, charged with Drive Motor Vehicle- Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Saturday, April 14, a police check of a vehicle stopped at the intersection of King Street and Innis Lake Road in Caledon led to the arrest of the driver. Betty Ellis, 52, of Sharon, Ontario, was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. She will appear in court May 17. Saturday, April 14, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Mississauga Road near The Grange Sideroad attempted to stop a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle didn't stop for the officer. The vehicle pulled into a driveway of a Mississauga Road residence and the male driver fled on foot. The male was subsequently located hiding in the bush and he was arrested without further incident. Steven Lines, 44, of Barrie, was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Flight From Police, Drive Under Suspension, Fail to Stop for Police, Use Plate Not Authorized and Speeding. His court date is set for May 31. Sunday, April 15, 45- year-old Eric O'Toole of Adjala-Tosorontio Township is facing charges following a vehicle stop on Highway 9 near Mount Hope Road for a Highway Traffic Act offence. He was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle- Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and will appear in court May 31. Assault Sunday, April 15, at about 2:30 p.m. Caledon OPP responded to a call for assistance regarding a male who had forced his way into a home and threatened the homeowners. While en route to the residence on Highway 10 near Old Base Line Road, an officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's vehicle travelling southbound on Highway 10. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle with emergency lights and siren, however, the vehicle failed to stop. Another Caledon officer assisted in bringing the vehicle to a stop on Highway 10, north of Mayfield Road, by blocking the intersection with his cruiser. The driver was arrested without further incident. The driver was found to be in possession of marihuana and liquor. Andrew Lorenz, 41, of Kleinburg, was held for a bail hearing April 16 and charged with Assault, Assault with a Weapon x2, Forcible Entry, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Failure to Provide Breath Sample, Possession of Marijuana and Drive with Open Container of Liquor. The occupants of the home weren't injured. Drugs Monday, April 9, a report of vandalism called in by a Citizens On Patrol member led to the arrest of two individuals. A vehicle stop was conducted on Allan Drive near Regional Road 50 and the driver and passenger were arrested. The driver, 22-year-old Stefan Ascenzi of Oak Ridges, was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Marijuana. He was given a court date of May 17. Tuesday, April 10, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Caledon OPP officers responded to a police assist call at an apartment on Shore Street in Bolton. The officers were advised that two men forced their way into an apartment after a dispute over a drug purchase. The two men fled before police arrival. About one hour later the two men were arrested by Caledon OPP officers at a residence on Huntington Road in Kleinburg. Steven Araujo, 26, of Beamsville and 22-year-old Emanuel Correia of Kleinburg have both been charged with Break & Enter with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence. Correia was held for a bail hearing April 11 and Araujo was released with a court date of May 24. Wednesday, April 11, at about 6:20 a.m. Caledon Crime Unit detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment on Shore Street in Bolton, which was the address of the original forced entry complaint. A resident of the apartment, 23-year-old Trena Parsons of Caledon, was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession for the Purpose and Trafficking-Cocaine. She was held for a bail hearing April 11. Wednesday, April 11, two males were charged following a vehicle stop at a RIDE spot check location at King Street and Airport Road in Caledon. The driver and passenger were arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana. Twenty-fouryear old Bhavesh Patel and 22-year-old Pankaj Patel, both of Brampton, will appear in court May 14. |
