Grow your mind this spring at your local library

Spring is finally here and the days are getting longer, giving you more time to enjoy all that Caledon Public Library has to offer. From story times to eBay courses to a monster book sale, the Caledon Public Library (CPL) has something for everyone.

For preschoolers, spring sessions of children's story times are being offered at most branches and some spaces are still available. For ages 4-8, a beginner's French program for children is being offered at the Bolton and Alton branches.

For those who enjoy reading and discussing books with others a number of book clubs continue to thrive and grow at the CPL. Book Clubs for teens and kids also take place on a monthly basis at various branches. If you enjoy reading and discussing books with others, call or visit any branch for more details.

Spring also marks the return of the visual art students from Mayfield Secondary School to the Bolton branch.

Are you looking for a job in the Caledon area? Are you currently unemployed and work less than 20 hours per week? Consider registering for a free workshop facilitated by vpi Inc, a provincially funded organization that is responsible for employment assessment in the Caledon area. The seminar will be held at the Bolton branch Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. Register in advance.

Following immediately in the footsteps of last month's wildly successful writing workshop, Caledon Public Library proudly offers 2 new "Women Write Now" creative writing workshops. Join Dr. Win Mellor-Hay for these exciting seminars - planned just for women - to quell negative writing voices and learn to listen to the creative ones. They will be held Saturday, April 28 at the Bolton branch and Saturday, May 12 at the Margaret Dunn branch both workshops are from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Cost is $49 and registration in advance is necessary.

As gardens grow, so should our minds so consider registering for a course to learn about shopping on eBay including how to list your items for sale, how to send and receive payments and how to ship items you have sold. This course will get you up and running on eBay in no time. It will be held at the Albion Bolton branch Wednesday, April 18 and at the Margaret Dunn Valleywood branch Wednesday, May 23. Both courses start at 7 p.m. and he cost is $5. Register in advance.

Are you a budding photographer worried about losing your precious photos on the computer? Register for Digital Downloading 101 and learn how easy it is to download your photos, create files and folders and burn images to CDs. This course offered by F-Stop Cameras in Orangeville and will be held Thursday, May 3 at the Bolton branch at 7 p.m. Cost is $40 and spaces are limited.

Finally mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Authors Day 2007 to be held at Forster's Book Garden in Bolton Sunday, April 29, 12-4 pm. This year the Caledon Public Library is proud to support this special literary event. Some of the featured authors include Ken Weber, Catherine Gildiner, Kelley Armstrong, Shelley Peterson and Diane Dupuy just to name a few.
