Mayfield presents 'Picnic'

Elysia Whyte as Madge Owens and Devon Forbes as Hal Carter, are in Mayfield's play, Picnic.
In their usual tradition, Mayfield Secondary School's drama department is about to stage their annual spring play, which this year, is William Inge's Picnic.

Directed by drama department head, Ken Stern, Picnic is the story of life in small town Kansas. It all takes place at the very end of summer, Labour Day weekend, and is centred around the joint back yards of two middle-aged widows, Flo Owens, and her two maturing daughters, Madge and Millie, and a boarder who is a spinster school teacher. The other house belongs to Helen Potts, who lives with her elderly and invalid mother. Into this comes a young man named Hal Carter, who complicates and adds some excitement to everyone's lives, especially Flo's daughter Madge.

This touching story of romance, relationships, and life in a small town runs at Mayfield Secondary School April 26, 27, 28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $12 each. If you have any questions, please feel free to call 905- 846-6060, and ask for either Kayla Alexandropoulos, or Ken Stern.
