Citizen vital to community

Advertising revenue is what makes a newspaper possible but the writing is what makes it vital to the community and lasting.

Twenty five years down the road after the "new kid" came to town to take on the old and established newspaper is a tribute to its writers. Mark, Alan, and Bill made it all work.

Mark, with his philosophical musings, Alan with his quiet manner and steady influence, and Bill with his "between your eyes" commentary made the "little paper that could" come to life.

Sometimes it's a little ragged and sometimes it is really good, just like life itself.

Like many, I wait for it to come to my desk and I give it a read. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes and sometimes it takes a while and it is always about my community and the people that I know or want to know.
