MP Tilson congratulates Howard the Butcher on his 10th anniversary

MP David Tilson presents Howard Beckett and Anne Dunbar with a plaque marking the store's 10th anniversary.
David Tilson, MP for Dufferin-Caledon, recently congratulated Howard the Butcher's Meats and Deli Ltd., of Caledon East, on its 10th anniversary. The renowned business is owned by local residents, Howard Beckett and Anne Dunbar, of Caledon, who officially opened their business Feb. 28, 1997.

March 31, Howard the Butcher's Meats and Deli hosted a 10th anniversary celebration at their Caledon East location and invited the public to share in the milestone. Tilson later stopped by to personally congratulate Beckett and Dunbar on the occasion and presented a certificate to them.

Tilson thanked the owners for, "their many and significant contributions to Caledon, which have benefited many individuals and organizations across Dufferin-Caledon. We are very fortunate to have such an outstanding business in our community, which gives so much back. I wish Howard the Butcher's Meats and Deli many more years of success and prosperity in our community."

The business's contributions to the community are numerous. Each year it hosts roast beef and spaghetti dinners, which benefit the Headwaters Health Care Foundation. In addition, the business also does work on behalf of the Caledon Soccer Club by hosting BBQs to support the club's activities.

Howard the Butcher Meats and Deli also has a long history of supporting local farmers, by purchasing its pork, beef, chicken, and lamb from Ontario producers. Furthermore, the business purchases Ontariogrown produce when it is available.

The store's current location has a long history as the local butcher shop. During the 1960s and 1970s, the current location was home to another local butcher by the name of Harry Boyce.
