OPP RIDE check leads to weapons charges

Caledon OPP officers responded to 12 property damage and four personal injury collisions during the week of March 19-25. Sadly, there was one fatality.

High Miler

of the Week

Tuesday, March 20, at approximately 9:18 p.m., Caledon OPP officer Ross observed a motor vehicle traveling at an extreme high rate of speed on King Road near Duffy's Lane in Caledon. Forty-five-year-old Robert Murray of Caledon was charged with Speeding- 121 km/hour in a 60- km/hour posted zone. Court date for the 61-kilometre over charge is set for May 3.

Alcohol & Driving

Thursday, March 22, a vehicle stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence at Bambi Trail near Doepath Way resulted in the arrest of the driver. Forty-five-year-old Saied Azural Mohammed of Brampton was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Drive Disqualified and Breach of Probation. He was held for a bail hearing March 23 and his vehicle was impounded under the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Saturday, March 24, 39- year-old Doneva Swazey of Mississauga is facing criminal charges following a traffic stop on Regional Road 50 near Mayfield Road. She will appear in court April 26, charged with Impaired Driving and Failure to Provide Breath Sample.

Drugs

Friday, March 23, a traffic stop at Healey Road and Hardwick Road in Bolton resulted in an arrest. Twenty-three-year-old Jeffrey Young of Collingwood was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana. Court date has been set for April 16.

Friday, March 23, a 17- year-old male from Brampton and two 17-yearold youth from Caledon were warned by police for possession of drugs at a plaza on Queensgate Blvd. in Bolton. Another 17-yearold old male from Caledon was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana and will appear in court April 23.

Mischief

Saturday, March 24, three separate homeowners on Longwood Drive in Bolton report that the hood emblems were stolen from their parked vehicles sometime overnight.

Sunday, March 25, three vending machines located outside a retail store on McEwan Drive were broken into during the night hours on Friday. Change was stolen from all three machines.

Recovered Vehicle

Monday, March 19, a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Peel Regional Police jurisdiction was recovered abandoned on Boston Mills Road near Kennedy Road in Caledon. The vehicle had been stripped down. The vehicle's tires had been removed as well as the seats, lights and engine.

Wednesday, March 21, a tractor and trailer were recovered abandoned on Mississauga Road south of Old School Road in Caledon. Both had been reported stolen March 19, the tractor from Brampton and the trailer from Mississauga. The trailer was empty when recovered.

Theft

Friday, March 23, a vehicle parked at a high school on Mayfield Road was entered by smashing the driver's side window. A purse was stolen from the vehicle.

Sunday, March 25, a car left parked in a conservation parking lot on McLaren Road was entered by smashing of the passenger window. A purse was stolen from the vehicle, which contained credit cards and personal identification.

Threats

Friday, March 23, a 15- year-old male youth from Caledon was charged with Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm, Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana, Fail to Comply with Recognizance and Fail to Comply with Disposition. He was arrested at his Bolton area high school and held for a bail hearing March 24.

Weapons

Saturday, March 24, a vehicle stopped for a RIDE spot check by Caledon OPP on Airport Road near Cranston Drive resulted in the arrest of both the driver and passenger. The driver, 25-year-old Fiona Grech of Mono Township was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana and will appear in court May 3. The vehicle's passenger, 26-year-old Kenneth MacAskill of Mono Township was charged with two counts of Possession of Weapon and two counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was held for a bail hearing March 24.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon OPP officers responded to five domestic disputes between March 19- 25. Charges were laid in Caledon March 24.
