Bolton has proven it's a hotbed for talented young skaters.
The Bolton Skating Club produced a fantastic Carnival 2007 - Skating Through the Seasons - Saturday to a packed Don Sheardown Memorial Arena.
Jo-Anne Fiore, club president, said it's been a pleasure for her to work with such a dedicated and wonderful group of volunteers. It's their dedication, and their tireless efforts that ensure the community receives the quality skating programs provided.
She praised the skaters themselves, who worked hard to showcase their accomplishments at the Carnival.
Carnival chair Josie Yakimishyn said it's been a wonderful and overwhelming experience as chair this year. She lauded her co-chair Pam Roque and all who put in many long hours to make this a memorable experience for skaters, proud parents and spectators.
Mayor Marolyn Morrison also brought greetings form the Town of Caledon and also praised the efforts of the club's volunteers.
And the crowds Saturday were not disappointed.
The show began by level 3 seniors who performed It's Raining Men, followed by a tight level 2 group doing Walking on Sunshine.
Soloists turning in stunning first-half performances included Erika Pugsley and Lindsay Hoxey.
The Rainbow Connection, Three Little Birds, Under the Sea and Teddy Bear Picnic had the little ones (preschoolers and canskaters) in very cute costumes show their parents what they've learned this season. The difficulty in organizing such large and diverse groups wasn't evident and parents and family members were thrilled with the results.
Also taking to the ice in the first half were bronze level skaters doing Sunglasses; silver level skaters in Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot; and appearances by amazing and well received special guests Monica Pisotta and Michael Stewart, Vanessa Crone and Paul Poirier and Ken Rose.
Following intermission, level 3 juniors did Black Magic Woman, followed by accomplished soloist Jennifer Yakimishyn and Thriller. The canskaters did Colours of the Wind and Halloween/Monster Mash, followed by another solid performance by talented soloist Angela-Marie Fiore, California Dreaming.
Other performers included the duet of Jenna Ledson and Allison Newton, Green Christmas; gold level skaters doing Angels Among Us/Angel; Audriana Roque's Revenge of the Sugar Plum Fairy; preliminary level skaters and Let it Snow; level 1 skaters doing a visually appealing T'was the Night Before Christmas/Little Saint Nick, and level 3 seniors doing Jingle Bell Rock.
The skaters, club volunteers and professional coaching staff worked tirelessly to put this production (which occurs every two years) together in such a fine fashion.
