Steckley tells Huron stories at the ROM

Thursday, March 15, Bolton author, John Steckley was invited to tell Wendat (Huron) stories at the Royal Ontario Museum. These lesson-teaching stories that long ago entertained Wendat children were brought back to life during the museum's part of their March Break Camp. John Steckley not only narrated, but acted out the well-known villainous, sly and gullible characters of Huron folklore.

These Wendat stories were recorded by Canadian ethnographer, anthropologist and author, Marius Barbeau (1883-1969), who made a significant contribution to our history, through his devoted work with Canada's Native peoples.
