Council salaries and expenses released

The 2006 salaries and expenses for Caledon council members were released to the public recently.

Mayor Marolyn Morrison earned a salary of $97,729.10. This included $53,398.38 paid by the Town of Caledon (onethird tax free) and $44,330.72 paid by Peel region (fully taxed). Her benefits were $289.93 with the Town and $6,775.21 with the region. She claimed $10,900.07 for individual expenses and $2,523.35 for training/development seminars from the Town. She also had a term allowance expense of $1,562.62 with the region.

Regional councillors Annette Groves and Richard Paterak each made $67,993.22 in salary. They received $23,662.50 from the Town and $44,330.72 from the region. Their benefits were $130.72 from the Town and $6,775.21 from the region.

Groves claimed $4,184.52 for individual expenses and $1,000 for training/development seminars from the Town. Her term allowance expense at the region was $477.27.

Paterak put in for individual expenses of $5,588.65 and $1,439.04 for training/development seminars from the Town. He had a term allowance expense of $2,502.17 from the region.

Former regional councillors David Lyons and Nancy Stewart each received $66,535.38 in salary. This was made up of $22,204.66 from Caledon and $41,087.53 from Peel. They also got benefits of $116.90 from the Town and $6,385.68 from the region.

Lyons submitted $8,830.40 for individual expenses and $883.11 for t r a i n i n g / d e v e l o p m e n t seminars. His region term allowance was $2,572.89. He also was paid $764.79 for serving on Credit Valley Conservation and $250 for other expenses.

Stewart claimed $4,408.20 in individual expenses and $120 for t r a i n i n g / d e v e l o p m e n t seminars. Her region term allowance was $1,686.87. She also received $1,338.24 for serving on the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and $622.16 for other expenses.

New Regional Councillor Allan Thompson made $26,905.69 in salary, including $23,662.50 from the Town and $3,243.19 from the region. He had benefits of $130.72 from Caledon and $425.87 from Peel. He claimed $2,634.25 in individual expenses and $698.70 for t r a i n i n g / d e v e l o p m e n t seminars from the Town.

Area Councillor Nick deBoer made $23,662.50 in salary at the Town with $130.72 in benefits. He put in for $406.78 in individual expenses and $1,158.67 for t r a i n i n g / d e v e l o p m e n t seminars.

Retiring area councillor Jim Wallace was paid a salary of $22,204.66 by the Town with benefits of $116.90. He submitted $7,623.27 for individual expenses and $540 for t r a i n i n g / d e v e l o p m e n t seminars.

Former area councillor Garry Moore received $20,318.65 in salary from the Town and $116.90 in benefits. His individual expenses came to $1,728.47 and he got $305 for t r a i n i n g / d e v e l o p m e n t seminars.

Regional Councillor Richard Whitehead was paid a salary of $4,701.03 from the time he got elected in late 2006. This included $1,457.84 from Caledon and $3,243.19 from Peel. His benefits were $9.84 from the Town and $63.15 from the region. He claimed $415.80 in individual expenses from the Town.

Newly elected area councillors Doug Beffort, Gord McClure and Jason Payne were each paid salary of $1,457.84 with $9.84 in benefits. For individual expenses McClure claimed $210.68, Beffort $145.32 while Payne had no claims.
