Idling driver charged with impaired

Caledon OPP Officers responded to 16 property damage and one personal injury collision during the week of March 12-18.

High Miler

of the Week

On Thursday, March 15, at approximately 5:16 p.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle traveling at an extreme high rate of speed on Airport Road near King Street in Caledon. Forty-two-year-old Victor Pereira of Hamilton was charged with Speeding- 141 km/hour in an 80- km/hour posted zone. Court date for the 61-km over charge is set for April 19.

Alcohol & Driving

Monday, March 12, a Caledon officer observed a vehicle run a red light at Regional Road 50 and Columbia Way in Bolton. The vehicle was followed and stopped at Regional Road 50 near King Street and the driver arrested. Forty-nine-year-old Tamara Dowds of Caledon was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Comply with Undertaking and Red Light Fail to Stop. She was held for a bail hearing March 12.

Monday, March 12, a traffic complaint by another motorist led to the arrest of a driver at Queen Street and Porterfield Road in Alton. Forty-one-year-old James Cockman of Caledon was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will appear in court on April 19.

Wednesday, March 14, a Caledon officer stopped to speak to a truck driver who was idling at a green light at Regional Road 50 and King Street in Bolton at about 2 a.m. The driver was subsequently arrested and charged. Forty-eight year old, Morris Chaput of Bradford has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Driving While Under Suspension. Court date was set for April 26.

Thursday, March 15, 44- year-old Katalin Farkas of Caledon was charged following a traffic stop near Centreville Creek Road and King Street in Caledon. She was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and will appear in court April 12.

Friday, March 16, a Highway Traffic Act offence led to a vehicle stop near Wilton Drive and Regional Road 50 in Bolton. Fortyfive year-old Mark Earl of Caledon will appear in court April 26, charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood.

Mischief

Thursday, March 15, damage caused to a fence by blue spray paint was reported to police. The graffiti damaged fence is located at Kingsview Drive and Whitehead Crescent.

Friday, March 16, during the night hours, vandal(s) damaged the paint of several vehicles parked in a business parking lot on Regional Road 50 in Bolton. A sharp object was used to damage the paint on about six vehicles.

Recovered Vehicle

Friday, March 16, an all terrain vehicle was stolen from a residence on McLaughlin Road sometime over the past few weeks.

Theft

Tuesday, March 13, items were reported stolen from a home under construction on Zimmerman Drive in Caledon. The items that were stolen include a bathtub enclosure, insulation and two step ladders.

Thursday, March 15, a pair of sunglasses and vehicle paperwork were taken from a vehicle parked at a Royalton Drive address.

Saturday, March 17, a vehicle was entered by smashing the front driver's window while the vehicle was left parked in a lot on Regional Road 50 in Bolton. A wallet containing cash, credit cards and identification was stolen.

Domestic Disputes

OPP officers responded to 11 domestic disputes between March 12 and 18. Charges were laid in Caledon March 13, and in Bolton March 13 and 15.
