Bolton restaurant owner wants core cleaned up soon
By MARK PAVILONS Editor

The condition of the streets Bolton aren't helping business for Allegro Fine Foods, as their store front shows.
A Bolton business owner is upset that dirt and grime now evident on our streets, won't be cleaned up for several weeks.

Tony Viola, owner of the upscale Allegro restaurant, said the sidewalk in front of his business is treacherous and the entire front facade of the building was sprayed with filthy mud from passing motorists last week. He said while it left quite a mess for his staff to clean up, he was concerned that had a pedestrian been walking along the sidewalk at the time, they would have been soaked and perhaps injured.

This prompted calls to Town of Caledon staff, who told him their spring cleanup program doesn't begin until May. He then contacted his councillors and the Region of Peel public works, which dispatched a crew to clean the gutter along Regional Road 50. Works crews noted ice had built up along the gutter, impeding water flow. Water and dirt collected, causing the problem. They scraped the gutter and placed barrel markers to keep motorists farther away from the curb.

While Peel's response was speedy, and Viola got some support from Councillor Annette Groves, he still thinks the Town needs to accelerate its spring cleanup program. He said he has visited other nearby towns and villages, remarking they are "spotless."
