Motorist thanks rescuers
Our Readers Write

On Feb. 27 while driving home from work about 7:30 p.m. I was struck by a southbound van on Highway 50 at The Gore Road while waiting to make a left-hand turn.

Within minutes of the impact and air bags deploying, etc. a gentleman was able to climb into the car through the back door. I was trapped and unable to open my door. He kindly introduced himself as James, and told me he was certified in CPR and First Aid (and also coaches hockey by the way). He gently proceeded to check for injuries to make sure I was OK. Within what seemed to be a very short span of time the emergency services had arrived and assured me they were working to free me from the vehicle. Once done, the EMS carefully checked me over - fortunately only bumps and bruises.

I would like to thank James, all the emergency services personnel, witnesses, tow truck drivers, etc. who were on hand that evening to help out. My deepest gratitude to you all! Also a huge thank you to my loving and caring husband who was there within minutes and made sure I made it home safely.

Oh, and also … that guardian angel that was sitting on my shoulder that night! I am glad to be alive! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
