Appliance and fixture pickup can be booked online Residents in Peel can now arrange to have large metal appliances and fixtures picked up by booking an appointment online at peelregion.ca/waste. "Online booking is a safe and convenient method for residents to schedule their large metal appliance and fixture pick-up," said Dave Gordon, manager, waste program planning. "If residents prefer, they can also drop off their items, free of charge, at Peel's Community Recycling Centres." Metal appliances and fixtures that are acceptable for curbside pickup include: Air conditioners, dehumidifiers, empty hot water tanks, empty oil heating tanks (cut in half), fireplaces, freezers, furnaces, heat pumps/exchangers, large home safes, metal bath tubs, metal shower enclosures, pool heaters, refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers. These items are collected from the curb by appointment only. The cost is $15 for the first item and $10 for each additional item collected on the same day. When booking online, payments are made securely using VISA or MasterCard. For safety, residents must also remove appliance doors and place them beside the appliance. Taping or tying the door shut is not an acceptable alternative to door removal. Appliances and fixtures must also be empty of all food and other waste, or they will not be collected. To book an appointment online, visit p e e l r e g i o n . c a / w a s t e .
