Economic impact study

Councillor Allan Thompson's motion to request the provincial government immediately undertake an economic impact study specific to "agriculture in the greenbelt area," was supported by Caledon council recently.

Thompson noted the study would address the disproportionate economic burden and land use restrictions that have been downloaded to these agricultural lands with no reconciliation of the economic impact to all of the greenbelt lands and the properties immediately adjacent to the greenbelt.

Thompson said the Greenbelt Plan was downloaded upon them without sufficient consultation.

Council would be doing its due diligence by asking what's become of an economic impact study for the agricultural sector, he added.
