Man killed in tragic mishap Monday, March 5 at 12:10 p.m. a transport trailer driver was travelling eastbound on Mayfield Road, west of Regional Road 50, when it made contact with a black Mercedes, which had pulled over to the south shoulder. The tractor-trailer driver stopped to speak with the Mercedes driver. As the driver of the transport stood on the passenger side of the Mercedes, a tan Ford pickup truck, traveling eastbound on Mayfield Road, swerved to avoid the Mercedes and drove into the ditch striking the driver of the transport. Tragically, the male driver of the transport, David M. Rose, 39, of Odessa Ont., was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The female driver of the Mercedes, Laura Bellissimo, 29, of Thornhill, was not injured, however, she was transported to Etobicoke General Hospital by ambulance for medical attention. The male driver of the pick-up truck David Wight, 52, of Bloomfield, Ontario, was not injured. Mayfield Road was closed between Regional Road 50 and Coleraine Drive until 5 p.m. as the OPP Highway Safety Division-Technical Collision Investigators completed their investigation.
