Two youths facing total of 14 charges

Caledon OPP Officers responded to 38 property damage and five personal injury collisions during the week of Feb. 26 to March 4.

High Miler

of the Week

Saturday, March 3, at approximately 4:22 p.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed on Highway 10 near The Grange Sideroad in Caledon. Fifty-one-year-old Martyn Cousin of Collingwood was charged with Speeding-163 km-h in an 80-km-h posted zone. Court date for the 83-kilometre over charge is set for April 19.

Traffic

Monday, Feb. 26, reports of dangerous driving received by Caledon OPP led to a traffic stop at Regional Road 50 and Healey Road in Bolton. The vehicle's driver, 46-year-old Sandra Eldridge of Norval, was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police and Driving While Under Suspension. She will appear in court April 5.

Alcohol & Driving

Thursday, March 1, a vehicle stop at Mayfield Road and Airport Road resulted in the arrest of the driver. Twenty-seven-yearold Bhupinder Atwal of Caledon was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Court date has been set for April 5.

Sunday, March 4, Caledon OPP conducted a traffic stop on Old Base Line Road at Mountainview Road after receiving complaints of an erratic driver. Twentyfour year-old Christopher Kingswell of Mississauga was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He was held for a bail hearing March 5.

Assault

Friday, March 2, two Caledon officers responded to a call of youth loitering and causing a disturbance after hours at the Palgrave Post office common area. When officers arrived, six youths were located within the common area with marihuana and alcohol. A 15- year-old Caledon male and a 16-year-old Caledon male were charged by the officers. A struggle ensued between the youth and the officers before the two males were apprehended and arrested. The two youth were charged with a combination of 14 criminal charges including Assault Police Officer, Attempt to Disarm Police, Resist Arrest, Possession of a Controlled Drug- Marihuana, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Failure to Comply with Recognizance and Fail to Comply with Youth Justice Court Order. They were both held for bail hearings March 3. The four other youths involved in this incident, two males and two females, were also charged with numerous offences under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, the Liquor Licence Act and the Trespass to Property Act.

Break & Enter

Monday, Feb. 26, Caledon OPP responded to an alarm at a Bolton area high school at roughly 2:30 a.m. Glass sections of the doors had been smashed to gain entry to the school. Attempts were made, once inside the school, to gain access to areas where valuables might be stored. A male was arrested at his residence a short time later. Eighteen-year-old Kyle Godon of Caledon has been charged with Break & Enter with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence. His court date has been set for April 5.

Friday, March 2, during the night hours, a door was kicked in of a home under construction on Innis Lake Road. Several newly purchased appliances were stolen from the home and extensive damages were caused to the home during the break-in and removal of the items.

Mischief

Friday, March 2, two vehicles parked overnight at a Shady Glen Crescent address in Bolton were damaged. Both tires on the driver's side of both vehicles had been slashed.

Sunday, March 4, a side mirror of a car was damaged while left parked in a driveway of an Ewart Street residence. A second vehicle at a different driveway on Ewart Street also had a side mirror damaged and a wiper blade broken. The damages are believed to have occurred sometime overnight.

Recovered Vehicle

Friday, March 2, a lift truck stolen from the Quebec area was recovered at a business on Manchester Court in Bolton.

Theft

Friday, March 2, a 17- year-old male from Caledon was charged with Theft- Under and Failure to Comply with Disposition and a 17-year-old female from Guelph charged with Theft-Under. The charges were laid following a shoplifting incident at a retail business on Queen Street in Bolton. The male was held for a bail hearing March 3 and the female youth will appear in court on April 2.

Monday, Feb. 19, during the late afternoon hours, a male entered a retail store on Queen Street in Bolton. He broke into a display cabinet and stole several video games.

Entered Overnight

Caledon OPP received numerous reports of vehicles entered during the night hours of Friday, March 2 to the morning of Saturday, March 3.

The vehicles had been parked in residential driveways in the Bolton area. Some of the vehicles were locked, however, items of value were left visible in some vehicles causing the culprit(s) to smash car windows to gain access to those items.

Street location of vehicles that were entered include Newlove Drive, Ellwood Drive, Country Stroll, Corsham Place, Flintwood Avenue, Prescott Drive, Bell Air Drive, Country Stroll Crescent and Fountainbridge Drive. A sample of items stolen from the vehicles includes briefcase, cell phone, laptop, jewellery, loose change, iPod and personal identification.

Threats Sunday, March 4, a disagreement between male youths escalated to criminal charges for an adult male. An altercation in a McEwan Drive parking lot resulted in the arrest of 47-year-old Vincenzo Deleo of Caledon. He has been charged with two counts of Criminal Harassment, two counts of Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will appear in court April 12.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes between Feb. 26 and March 4. Charges were laid in Caledon Village Feb. 26, Mayfield West March 3 and Bolton March 4.

OPP officers responded to 12 domestic disputes between Feb. 19-25. Charges were laid in Caledon Village Feb. 21, Bolton Feb. 24 and Caledon Feb. 19.
