Molson, proud supporter of grassroots community programs, made a donation to Road Watch, a community-based project to promote safe driving awareness, enforcement and education.
Co-founded in 1995 by Caledon Mayor Marolyn Morrison, as a result of a fatal vehicle collision on the Forks of the Credit Road in Caledon that claimed the lives of eight young people, the program uses several communications tools to lessen incidences of unsafe driving, including online citizen report forms that tip off police when they witness acts of dangerous driving.
"Every bit of support we receive helps save lives in communities across Ontario," said Morrison. "Dangerous and aggressive driving is an issue that impacts everyone, and with continued support from companies like Molson, we hope to create safer roads in Caledon for all of our citizens."
All donations go directly to Road Watch in an effort to raise awareness about the perils of unsafe driving on rural roads in smaller communities.
"Molson is proud to provide the means for projects like Road Watch to create greater awareness and education about the dangers of unsafe driving," explained Brandon Biggs, territory representative for Molson. "This program allows community members to be involved first-hand - a crucial aspect to policing individuals who choose to drive recklessly."
There are three main components to the Road Watch program, namely, awareness, education and enforcement. One of the program's main tenets is the belief that by involving citizens and encouraging them to take ownership of the problems of dangerous, aggressive driving, they too can be part of the solution by modifying their behavior and attitudes.
