Disagreement escalates to threats

Caledon OPP officers responded to 13 property damage and three personal injury collisions during the week of Feb. 19-25.

High Miler

of the Week

Tuesday, Feb. 20, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed on Albion Vaughan Town line near Nunnville Road in Caledon. Seventeen-year-old Gennaro Melillo-Franzese of Caledon was charged with Speeding- 116 km-h in a 60 km-h posted zone. Court date for the 56-kilometre over charge is set for March 15.

Alcohol & Driving

Tuesday, Feb. 20, a vehicle stop for the purpose of a RIDE spot check resulted in charges for the driver. Tw e n t y - f o u r- y e a r- o l d Thomas Bannerman of Caledon was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Drive Motor Vehicle-No License. He will attend court March 22 in answer to these charges.

Wednesday, Feb. 21, 35- year-old Dilber Singh Dhah of Brampton was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle- Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood following a traffic stop at Highway 10 and King Street for a Highway Traffic Act offence. Court date has been set for March 29.

Thursday, Feb. 22, 23- year-old Matthew Leblanc of Brampton was stopped for speeding on Dixie Road near Mayfield Road. In addition to a charge of speeding 140 km-h in a posted 70 km-h zone, Leblanc was also charged with the criminal offence of Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100mls. Of Blood. He will appear in court April 5.

Thursday, Feb. 22, Caledon officers conducted a traffic stop on Regional Road 50 near King Street, which resulted in criminal charges for both the driver and passenger. The driver, 24-year-old Savio Buompastore of Woodbridge was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and will appear in court March 22. The vehicle's passenger, 27-year-old Christopher Triassis of Caledon was charged with four counts of Breach of Recognizance and was held for a bail hearing.

Sunday, Feb. 25, a vehicle stopped for speeding and travelling in a dangerous manner near Escarpment Sideroad resulted in charges for the driver. Forty-sixyear old Mihai Sarbu of Brampton was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Speeding. His court date has been set for March 22.

Break & Enter

Wednesday, Feb. 21, a commercial business on Highway 10 was entered during the night hours by breaking of a glass rear door. An unknown quantity of cigarettes was stolen.

Mischief

Monday, Feb. 19, a business on Queen Street in Bolton reported on-going mischief and damages to their property. Exterior lighting was damaged as well as other damages to the exterior of the building.

Wednesday, Feb. 21, damages caused by blue spray paint have been reported in the Inglewood area. The community centre and library exterior wall were damaged.

Friday, Feb. 23, culprit(s) damaged a building wall in the Bolton fairgrounds with green spray paint. The mischief occurred sometime this week. Police warn that activity of this nature is a criminal offence of Mischief.

February 23, 40-year-old Glenn Nissen of Caledon was charged with Mischief- Under and Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana as a result of an investigation regarding damages caused at a business on Airport Road in Caledon East. His court date has been set for March 20.

Recovered Vehicle

Thursday, Feb. 22, a passenger van has been reported stolen from the vehicle owner's place of employment on Healey Road. The vehicle was parked in the parking lot at 7:30 in the morning and when he returned for it at 5 p.m. the vehicle was gone.

Threats

Wednesday, Feb. 21, a disagreement between two males in Bolton escalated to threats of bodily harm. Forty-six-year-old Russell Birchard of Caledon was charged with Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. He was held for a bail hearing Feb. 22.
