Thief makes off with vintage tractor parts

AWildfield man has suffered a major setback, courtesy of a meticulous thief who stole several vintage parts from his 1950 Ford full-size tractor, parked in the backyard.

The man, who preferred not to be named, said the lone culprit (judging from the footprints in the snow) stole the parts during the evening between Feb. 20 and 21 from the property at Mayfield and Marysfield roads.

The thief knew exactly what he was doing and removed the battery, starter motor, ignition module, carburetor, float bowl and distributor coil, worth an estimated $1,800. The owner said he purchased the tractor roughly 12-14 years ago and rebuilt it from scratch to pristine condition. While the tractor was not damaged, the parts will be difficult, if not impossible, to replace.

The tractor was under a tarp roughly 60 feet from the back door of the residence. It was out in the open and the culprit obviously had a lot of nerve.

He's hoping the parts may surface, or if anyone knows about the incident, you can contact the owner at 905-867- 2911.
