Charges laid for carrying flick knives

Caledon OPP Officers responded to 41 property damage and four personal injury collisions during the week of Feb. 12-18.

High Miler

of the Week

Monday, Feb. 12, at approximately 7:34 a.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle traveling at an extreme high rate of speed on Highway 10 near Highpoint Sideroad in Caledon. Twenty-one-yearold Fernando Santos of Brampton was charged with Speeding-135 km/hour in an 80-km/hour posted zone. Court date for the 55-km over charge is set for April 5.

Alcohol & Driving

Monday, Feb. 12, a Caledon officer responded to a car that had gone into a ditch on Creditview Road north of Old School Road in Caledon. Thirty-year-old Kristopher Greenwood of Orangeville has been charged with Impaired Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle, Care & Control of a Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls of Blood, Obstruct Police and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. He was held for a bail hearing Feb. 12.

Monday, Feb. 12, a traffic stop on King Street near Innis Lake Road resulted in the arrest of the driver. Forty-four-year-old Diane Serre of Mississauga was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. She will appear in court March 15.

Friday, Feb. 16, a driver involved in a motor vehicle collision on Regional Road 50 near Old Church Road has been charged. Twentyyear old Sheena Cripps of Beeton was been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Class G2 Licence Holder-Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero. Court date has been set for March 22.

Friday, Feb. 16, a Caledon officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 10 near Highpoint Sideroad, which resulted in the arrest of the driver. Thirty-sixyear old John Gordon of Orangeville has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor and Operate Motor Vehicle Without Insurance. His court date has been set for March 22.

Sunday, Feb. 18, a vehicle stop at Highway 10 and Boston Mills Road resulted in several criminal charges for the driver. Twenty-yearold Jason Murkin of Georgetown was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Class G2 License Holder-Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero. Court date has been set for March 29.

Drugs

Tuesday, Feb. 13, a 16- year-old male student from Caledon was arrested at a Caledon East high school and charged. He will appear in court March 12 charged with Possession for the Purpose-Marihuana.

Thursday, Feb. 15, a 17- year-old Caledon male was charged with Possession of the Purpose-Marihuana while in attendance at school in Caledon East. He will appear in court March 12.

Mischief

Saturday, Feb. 17, a fence and telephone box sustained damages from a vehicle that had left the roadway on Charleston Sideroad. The vehicle left the scene without reporting the damages.

Saturday, Feb. 17, a vehicle was parked in the fairgrounds parking lot on Heart Lake Road during the daytime hours. The owner returned to the vehicle to find that a window had been smashed. Nothing has been reported stolen from the vehicle.

Recovered Vehicle

Wednesday, Feb. 14, a vehicle that had been stolen from Peel Regional Police jurisdiction was recovered abandoned on Innis Lake Road near Healey Road in Caledon. The exterior of the vehicle had not sustained damage, however, the front seats were missing as well as the heater and radio.

Theft

Monday, Feb. 12, an XBOX system was stolen from a retail store on Queen Street in Bolton. A lone male culprit entered the store just before closing, walked up to the counter, took the boxed item and then fled on foot. The male was wearing a jacket with the hood pulled up and a winter ski mask on his face.

Tuesday, Feb. 13, an unknown male was found in the staff area of a retail business on McEwan Drive. After the male had left the store, staff realized that cash had been stolen from purses left unattended in the staff area.

Weapons Charges

Monday, Feb. 12, a traffic stop on Torbram Road near Old School Road resulted in a criminal offence for the driver after police seized a flick knife and a BB gun from the driver. Twenty-five year-old Kenneth Macaskill of Mono Township was charged with Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and will appear in court March 29.

Monday, Feb. 12, a 17- year-old male student of a Bolton high school has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon after school administration seized a flick knife from the student. The youth has been given a court date of March 19.

Fraud Warning

Several calls from businesses in the Caledon area were placed to Caledon OPP to report a suspicious e-mail or fax that had been received by the local businesses.

The message received told a story of a mother of five who had recently lost her husband in an explosion in Lebanon. She requests the banking information of the recipient of the fax or e-mail which included their bank's name and address with account and routing number as well as their beneficiary name and address. The purpose is to safeguard large amounts of funds by transferring them to Canadian accounts. Person(s) willing to assist with this request are told that they would receive a percentage of the funds.

Caledon OPP would like to remind business owners and residents to never give out banking information over the Internet, fax, mail or telephone. For your protection, do not respond in any manner to requests of this nature; shred the faxes and delete the e-mails.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes between Feb. 12- 18. No charges were laid.
