The Canadian Federation of University Women, Orangeville Chapter, is hosting a concert and country dance event Saturday, March 3 to raise funds for university scholarships for local young women from Caledon and Orangeville.
This year's event is a concert and dance with the internationally renowned band Genticorum, from Montreal.
Featuring fiddles, fretted instruments, foot percussion and wooden flute, this is an amazingly energetic band, playing both their own original compositions and the wonderful, traditional music of Quebec.
This concert and dance will take place March 3 at 7:30 p.m., at the Tony Rose Sportsplex Banquet Hall, 40 Fead St., Orangeville.
The dance caller will be traditional dance champion and choreographer, Marie- Soleil Pilette, also from Montreal. No previous dance experience is required as dances will be taught.
Also showcasing award winning Ottawa Valley Step- Dance will be student members of Chanda's School of Dance, from Caledon and Orangeville.
Tickets, $20 for adults, $10 for age 13 and under, are available from Acoustic Traditions Music, 57 Broadway St., Orangeville, and from Chanda's School of Dance.
Fiddlers who would like to learn some of the great Quebecois tunes can also attend a workshop taught by Genticorum's wonderful fiddler Pascal Gemme in the morning of Saturday, March 3.
