Regional council meetings online Audio broadcasts of Peel regional council meetings have hit the airwaves. The first broadcast was made Feb. 8 over the Internet. Residents are invited to visit peelregion.ca/council to listen to the live streaming audio of regional council, general committee and statutory public meetings held in the council chambers at regional headquarters. To listen to the broadcast, Windows Media Player software is required. "In keeping with the goals of our Strategic Plan, the Region continues to be accessible and citizen-focused," said regional councillor Gael Miles, chair of the management committee. "By broadcasting our council sessions live, the public will immediately be aware of issues and decisions made by Peel council." "Live audio broadcasts will enhance the way we communicate our programs and services with residents, and enable a broader reporting of discussions in Council," said David Szwarc, CAO for the Region of Peel. Copies of council meeting reports are also available by contacting the clerk's division at 905-791-7800, ext. 4526. Members of the public are also welcome to attend council meetings in the council chambers at 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton. For a calendar of upcoming meetings and agendas, visit peelregion.ca/council. |
