Zonta Club holds forum on trafficking

Human trafficking is the third most lucrative activity of organized crime groups following trafficking of arms and drugs.

The UN estimates that up to one million people are trafficked throughout the world each year; most of the victims are women and children.

Thousands of women are being kidnapped from their homes, exported from their countries and forced to become sex slaves in various homes, massage parlors, sex clubs, bordellos and casinos across the globe.

Victims are often subjected to coercion and intimidation, including physical detention and debt bondage.

The Zonta Club of Brampton will be hosting a forum addressing this issue Tuesday, March 13. The event will be held at Rapini's Restaurant in Brampton at 6:30 p.m. for dinner followed by the forum. The cost of the dinner is $30 per person.

Please advise Jessie Bannerman at jessie.william@sympatico. ca by March 6 if you plan to attend this event.
