Rotary's incoming president to dedicate new youth centre

President-elect Rotary International, Wilfred (Wilf) J. Wilkinson, a resident of Trenton, will be visiting the GTA and Caledon March 7.

During his visit, he will be dedicating the Rotary Club of Bolton's Youth Centre, located in Bolton.

An anonymous benefactor entrusted $1.5 million to the Rotary Club of Bolton to build a permanent home for the local Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. During the planning stage, the Town showed interest in joining forces with Rotary to add a gymnasium to the existing Caledon Centre.

This developed into a win/win $2.5 million plus project. The facility will be able to handle venues such as basketball (college size court) badminton and floor hockey, etc., and will have additional meeting rooms.

The Scouts and Guides now have a permanent home in which to hold their meetings, storage space and limited use of the gymnasium to carry out indoor activities.

The dedication by Wilkinson will take place Wednesday, March 7 between 2:15 and 2:45 p.m. A tour with local dignitaries will also take place.
