Caledon Skating Club's showcase

Sunday, March 4 will be a day of smiles, proud parents and happy children as the Caledon Centennial Skating Club (CCSC) presents its biannual skating showcase. Broadway and Then Some, the theme of this year's show, promises to be filled with lots of colour and music as the club skaters, from 3 years old up to 18 years old, take to the ice.

"Everyone who attends always has a great time," commented Cathy Goudreau, president of the club and mother of three club skaters. "It's such a great way to spend an afternoon and the memories last forever."

The CCSC has been putting on a skating showcase every other year for countless years and each time it gets better and better. The coaches have put the finishing touches on routines; the skaters have been practising their moves and getting fitted for their costumes, and everyone is looking forward to showing Caledon the wonderful skaters we have in our community.

This year the CCSC is proud to have a number of guest skaters from other clubs joining in to entertain the visitors and CCSC skaters. They include:

Rebecca Nelles and Dylan Simpson (from the Guelph & Kitchener Skating Clubs). This competitive pair have been skating together for three years and are at the pre-novice dance level. Their enthusiasm and hard work have earned them the right to compete at the Junior Nationals for the past two years.

Gold Ice Juvenile and Novice Festival will also be in attendance. Gold Ice Juvenile are currently the 2007 central regional champions. Gold Ice Novice Festivals are currently the 2007 central regional bronze medalists, and have currently returned home from competing at the National Synchronized Skating Championships.

The club would like to invite anyone and everyone in Caledon and surrounding areas to come out and see this spectacular event. It will be held at the Mayfield arena (at the corner of Mayfield Rd. & Bramalea Rd. in Caledon) Sunday, March 4, from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. For tickets (adults, $10; seniors/children $5), please contact Bente Rowland at Rowland Investments and Insurance Inc., 905-838-0010.
