Hawks continue to dominate in January games

The Caledon minor bantam select Blackhawks continued their winning ways in January by taking two games from the Caledon Lightning.

Game one began with Robert Keszeg and Justin Lollino combining some precision passing to find Harry Gaebler creeping in off the blue line for the Hawks' 1st goal. Warren Stroud rounded out the 1st period with a powerplay goal and the assists going to linemates Anthony Gasbarre and Michael Bellisario.

Second period action saw some tenacious forechecking by Damian Commisso and Zachary Moszynski which resulted in Kyle Sammut potting the Hawks' 3rd goal of the game. With the Hawks again on the powerplay Bellisario and Stroud took control of the puck and set up Gasbarre for the fourth in the 4-2 final.

Game 2 of the mini series also ended in a 4-2 win for the Hawks.

Gaebler opened the scoring unassisted. Keszeg was next to find the back of the net with helpers going to Andrew Fellin and Joseph DiMarco. The Hawks' powerplay squad produced the next two goals. First Moszynski converted a pass from Gaebler and then Lollino found DiMarco all alone on the point and he let loose with a cannon that blasted past the Lightning goalie.

The next team to fall to the Hawks' onslaught was the Brampton Sharpshooters 3-2. Again Gaebler opened the scoring unassisted, followed by Stroud also unassisted. This game almost got away from the Hawks as Brampton came back to tie the game 2-2. Both teams fought hard throughout the 3rd period, however, with 59 seconds left on the clock Stroud scored his 2nd goal of the game due to the determination of linemates Vincent Maiolino and Bellisario.

The Hawks then extended their record to 31- 1-2 with a 3-0 romp over the Brampton Snipers.

First period action saw Fellin convert the hard work of linemates Keszeg and Lollino for the Hawks' 1st goal. Fellin then assisted on Keszeg's goal to go up 2-0. With the play firmly in the Snipers' territory the tic-tactoe passing of Stewart, Lollino and Bellisario produced the Hawks' 3rd goal when Bellisario onetimed a shot past the Snipers' goalie. With the game under control the Hawks concentrated on their defensive play and turned back every Sniper attack. Taylor Elkins, who was peppered with 13 shots early in the game, continued to stand his ground and earned the shutout.
