February is Heart Month February is Heart Month and this year The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario has raised its expectations. The Peel Chapter has set a goal to raise more than $175,000 during its door-to-door campaign and is dependent on the support of the community to meet that goal. This campaign runs through to February 28 and is a community-based program where thousands of dedicated volunteers go door-to-door to request donations and raise awareness. In Caledon alone there are over 400 people who volunteer to save lives by canvassing in their neighbourhoods. By opening the door to a volunteer you are choosing to help make a difference. Your support is vital to our ability to fund world-class research being conducted in almost 450 hospitals and research institutions in communities across Ontario. A Heart and Stroke Heart Month Campaign Volunteer can be clearly identified by a familiar red and white Foundation logo button, and the logo is also prominently displayed on the canvasser kit as well as on materials distributed by the Foundation volunteer. The logo will appear again on the tax receipt should a donation be made. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario is a volunteer based health charity whose mission is to eliminate heart disease and stroke and reduce their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living, and advocacy.
