Caledon night school in jeopardy
By Valerie Arnold-Judge

We are starting the winter session of the adult general interest night school programs. Classes are offered on Mondays and Tuesdays at Humberview and Wednesdays at Mayfield secondary.

Course listings were in the flyer, distributed earlier in January or available at the Caledon Library branches. Also people can find all of the information and register at www.tcet.com/fun.

In 2005 I surveyed the people of Caledon asking, "Who was interested in night school and what programs did they want to have in their local schools."

The survey response was very interesting and I took their surveys to the Centre for Education and Training to see what programs we could implement. C.E.T. came up with several good programs and it was well attended, but to date registration in the Caledon schools is low to the point it now jeopardizes the continuance of the classes. If these classes have to close it's due to low attendance. I can only guess that the people in Caledon are no longer interested.

If you want these night schools programs ask a friend to attend with you and register. If you need more information you can reach me at 905-838-2125 or email me at valerie.arnoldjudge@ peelsb.com.
